Pound Ridge NY Real Estate
Pound Ridge NY was originally home to the Algonquin tribe, the Mohicans. In the 1640s Captain Nathanial Turner bought land from the native Indians and incorporated it into a town in 1788. During the 1920s the population dwindled and Hiram Halle, an inventor and businessman, relocated from New York City and began to enhance the community. Many homes were reconstructed and renovated and this attracted many actors, writers, musicians and artists. Pound Ridge is commonly referred to as the second Hollywood. Some historic places within the town include the Pound Ridge Community Church, the Hiram Halle Memorial Library and the Pound Ridge Museum. Some famous residents include Mike Meyers, Christopher Reeve, Tom Brokaw and Tim Robbins.
