Fishkil NY was first inhabited by the Wappinger Indian tribe. In 1683, two Dutch settlers purchased 85,000 acres of landfrom the Indian tribe in Dutchess County. The name Fishkill is derived of two Dutch words: Vis (fish) and Kill (stream or creek). During the Revolutionary War, an encampment was made in Fishkill and was a main supply depot for the Continental Army. During the nineteenth century factories and mills were established in the town, one being the famous Glenham Woolen Mill. Today, many are attracted to Fishkill NY Real Estate for it’s spectacular views and beautiful scenery.
Fishkill is the home of the Hudson Valley Renegades, the minor league baseball team of theTampa Bay Rays.
